who we are

Jericho Christian Fellowship strives to pour its energy into lives through community, global ministry efforts and pastoral leadership. It is our peoples’ passionate dedication to Christ that empowers the ministries of Jericho.

Our leadership strives to be always rooted and grounded in the Word of God, responsive to the direction of the Holy Spirit, and to introduce people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

It is our desire to follow Jesus’ example of “always pleasing the Father” (John 8:29). The prophet Micah has given us insight as to how we might do that. “He has shown all you people what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Jericho's contemporary “worship service” is an active and powerful combination of all that those two words can define. Our expression of praise and adoration in song lifts our spirit to a supernatural place of encounter and ushers us into the very heart of the living God. Newcomers find themselves being drawn in to this atmosphere which lingers in the air like a fragrance, even while our people remain after the final amen… visiting with one another in friendship and in peace.

Our History

Jericho Christian Fellowship was founded in 1992, when Pastor Brian Weeks started with a congregation of 17 people in a rented Middleboro facility. Outgrowing that first location in just over a year, we moved to the current Girl Scout Building on East Grove Street. On Christmas Eve, 1996, the first service was held in our present building. The front addition was completed in 1999 and we have a design for a 27,000 sq. ft. addition which will house a 1000 seat sanctuary.

In the fall of 2006, the doors were opened to our downtown community resource center, a building we call the “HUB.”

Our Vision

A group of our youth

We endeavor to be... a caring loving fellowship of dedicated people, finding true purpose in serving our God, our community and world. We believe that Jesus Christ showed us how to live, and has empowered believers to carry on that example through the gift of the Holy Spirit. We seek to praise God through our worship, both in church and in our individual lives, by putting others first and showing God's gracious love to all. In this way, we become a part of the diverse Body of Christ working together to preach the gospel throughout the earth.

Jericho translates into “fragrance” in the ancient Hebrew language. The original city of Jericho in Palestine grew out of a pleasant oasis in an otherwise arid region. We want to reflect that kind of identity in our contemporary society… and to be pleasing even to God as He observes our daily lives. Later known in Scripture for its “walls that came tumbling down” – Jericho today seeks to bring down any barriers that prevent God's people from knowing and experiencing personal freedom, joy, peace and a deep sense of fulfillment in their journey of faith.

Our Worship

A group during our Sunday service

We believe that knowing God and encountering Him in a Sunday service is an awesome thing. Many of us get readily enthused in other life arenas, such as sporting events, a powerful movies or concerts. Here, in this building, many embrace their time with our amazing ever-forgiving Father who is full of endless mercy and unconditional love. If you are used to this form of worship – you'll feel right at home. If this expression is new to you – we invite you to “enter in”, laying aside any hindrances as together we seek God’s face. We trust that you will find your spirit refreshed and your life forever changed by the presence of God.
